88 rocco, sheared the fuel pump mounting stud, suggestions?

hola:

while trying to get an original rear brake line off on the passenger side, i got a little crazy with the torch and melted the plastic fuel resevoir that's over the fuel pump. (oops!)

when i started pulling the fuel pump out, the stud sheared off, even after soaking the sucker in kroil for a week....then the northeast deep freeze descended and i decided it wasn't worth it lying in permafrost while i fixed it.

so now it's started to warm up a little and i have to start putting the sucker together, but i still have this sheared off stud to deal with.

any sugestions? i was going to try a nutsert if i can't drill it out. i'm guessing that the stud is one of the carriage bolt type things that vw tackwelds to body panels...

thanks ted (remove nospammin to email me.) snipped-for-privacy@cox.net

With gas in it? I don't know how to fix your sheared off stud, but count your blessings and take it easy with the torch from now on!

Buy another pump, and be glad you're not in the local burn unit recovering.
