90 Passat surging

I have 90 Passat Auto (unfortunetly) :) anyways, it starts and drives fine, but after driving for about 1/2 hr the car will start a very lopy idle from

1000-1200, when i drive it fine, but if i am stopped it lopes like crazy, doesnt matter if its in D, R, N or P, engine still lopes. Then it will strangly go away sometimes after 10 minutes. Any ideas greatly appreciated Thanks Darren

check throttle body and it's switches. throttle plates should open easily and close fully could be a dirty Idle Stabilizer Valve too
