I have an 88 jetta with an automatic. I am in the midst of doing a motor swap to the same engine (out of a 92 Golf GTi) and the motor doesn't seem to be fitting against the tranny properly, there is a 1/2 inch gap after the tranny is bolted to the motor. The motor I am putting in was out of a
5-speed car. Is there something special about the crank on a manual versus an automatic like a washer at the end of the crank or are they different in some way? The bolts are tight on the top of the block and at the front but we cannot turn the torque convertor. My dad feels there is something in the way causing it to bind against the ring gear.
Thanks for the reply,
Brad
