Help with mirror knob replacement PLEASE! Jetta

Aug 09, 2003 3 Replies

Hello Group! Thanks for taking the time to read this...hope you can help me.

I have broken the knob that controls the two passenger side mirrors. I have bought the part to replace it and I am wondering how to do it myself. I need help.

The car is about 4 or 5 years old I think. The part is a knob located on the driver's door near the door latch. It is electronic, and can be turned/switched to control the left or right side mirrors. Do I need to take the door panel off to get to the part? Any advice on how to do this myself or where to get the information would be greatly appreciated!!!!

Thanks so much!!!

"The car is about 4 or 5 years old I think". So what year is the car? As that statement can mean it's a 98, 99, 99.5 Jetta!

Information is POWER!

What would be good to know is what year, or more over, what platform your car is... A3 or A4. You might have to remove the door panel, which is easy on both platforms, or if you are sly, like myself, you can pop the old switch out with a finely crafted pocket screwdriver and do the job in 2 minutes or so (5 minutes if you can't find the car in the parking lot).

Tell us what platform you have and we can tell you where every nut and bolt is in your car.

Pencilneck blah blah blah
