Lost or Stolen - CORNER LIGHT RH (PASSENGER SIDE)

Driving back home today I notice that my right turn signal light was blinking too quickly then usual. Checked my left light signal and it was OK. After I was home I got out the car with the engine running and position the lever up to enable the turn signal. Walked around the car and saw to my surprise the CORNER LIGHT RH (PASSENGER SIDE) missing. I'm wondering how did this ever happen? Can it simply dropped off or did someone steal it? Is replacing the Corner Light done by just popping it out? Does the hood need to be open to remove it and/or screws to be undone? If not, how can it just pop out? I didn't see any screw driver markings or anything else which may have give an indication that someone actually stole it. In addition, the sockets for the light were in place. I would also imagine that if the light was hanging out from the car, someone would attempt to beep at me to get my attention which didn't happen.

Can anyone shed some *ahem* light on this?

Thanks In Advance!

Good chance the retaining clip broke and it fell out. They simply snap into the hole from the outside.

They are held in by a spring. Did you report it to the police. There may be some Honda running around with Passat lights.
