Newbie - gauges

I have just purchased a 1984 VW Rabbit Cabriolet. There is a cluster of three gauges on the centre console. The centre gauge has me stumped what is it for ? There is some printing on the gauge face that says "bar." I think it stands for barometer, but what does that have to do with the car ?

bar is pressure (1bar=14.5psi). Could be oil pressure gauge.

"bar"= time for another case of beer! It's oil pressure.
