According to many comments I have read here and elsewhere "dino" oils are good for 3,000 miles or so, but semi-synthetic or synthetic oils should last 10,000 miles (ie. between service intervals). Since I'm useless with car mechanics, I figured I would get it changed over on the cars service due this Thursday rather than worry about interim oil changes. VW say they will happily use whatever oil I supply. Only trouble is I'm *totally* clueless about oil brands\specifications. Could somebody please advise what to buy?? It's for the UK climate, and the car is a UK 1996 model 1.8SE (90BHP). TIA
