You might try mothballs to get them used to looking elsewhere, but you would want to air things out afterwards.

JMHO but using items that they like to eat will attract more of them. :-( Even if the poison eventually kicks in I would hate to have them die in your vehicle.

Someone already mentioned mothballs but I have also heard that Irish Spring soap keeps the rodents away and doesn't smell too bad either. ;-)

Call a local exterminator. Get rid of the nesting areas nearby. It may help to cooperate with your neighbors on it. They've doubtless been having problems too.

I find it interesting tht most (all?) web references to packrats are from Tucson, Az -- where I live!

I've heard that coyote urine works well. Maybe apply it to the ground where you park (rather than to the car, which could obviously cause other problems, like fewer dates etc.).

Another option is to get this stuff that they use to teach horses and dogs not to chew on things - it's incredibly bitter and yet nearly odorless.
