hi, Does anyone know if the rabbit deisel trans and jetta deisel trans are interchangable? Years about 1983 to 1985. I need one for my jetta, and found one from a rabbit.

85 5-speed trans will fit on the 83 the 83 trans will NOT fit on the 85 (85 trans case has extra holes for the mounting bracket) IIRC and may not apply to automatics! later, dave Reminder........ An A1 tranny will fit an A2 if a mount is MacGyver'd (preferably out of steel, directly to the frame without a rubber mount :) If you own an '84 or earlier, stick with an '84 or earlier tranny. Opposite goes for '85 to '92.
