Re: Oil Pressure Light

Still floging this dead horse....

My oil pressure problem (call me Mr duh, or doh! if you prefer) was a mixture of Mobil 1 30W and gasoline in the crankcase. I guess I left the manual fuel pump switch on at one of my stops. Bought a new relay and missplaced it! Duh again! Too many hours at the new job I guess.

My guess is that you drove it that way for a while and caused bigtime wear on the engine. If your going to keep the car for a while get the bigger oil pump for the 2l engine. It's a bolt on simple project. Just remove the oil pan and a couple of bolts and the pump is off. A brand new one was around $80 US and it cured similiar problems caused by injecter cleaner thinning out the oil. If that's too much work for you then put in a can or two motor honey and sell it.

hi there,

it could be many things, mine did the same thing, and ended up being the voltage regulator that went bad and it was sending 20V to the bat. For some reason the oil light would dim. Was lucky though, could have fried some many electronics :-) Check the voltage on your battery.

good luck
