Brake light

Jun 14, 2004 4 Replies

Could someone please tell me what could be causing the brake light on my dash to stay on. It is the light that is on if you have your e-brake on. I have checked my brakes and my brake fluid level and everything is good. Any help will be appreciated because I would hate to have to pay $80 to find out it was something simple.

Thanks.

Been there on my 1995 ....4 cyl CAMRY. It was a burnt out BRAKE STOP LIGHT in rear cluster. I am not sure what you mean by " e-brake " Maybe its USA for hand brake. My light that stayed on was the "Check Brakes" one.

Maybe thats your problem to.

Johnny UK.

Sandy, my light warning goes on intermittently and then off for several days. The service man at my Toyota checked out most everything and scratched his chin, saying "All your rear lites are OK. Since this warning light works only for rear lites and NOT the headlights, my GUESS is that the **light relay switch** is defective. Replacing it would cost $245. If you ignore, not much bad things can happen".

I'm ignoring. Duh!

Add a little fluid even though the level appears fine. This problem has been mentioned and corrected many times previously in this group....

When this happened to me, turned out to be a weak wire at the trunk hinge - discovered when someone opened the trunk and I observed the warning light going on and off predictably.
