hi, I have a 89 Fox, and a 84 Jetta, and they both to some degree have uneven tire wear on the rear tires. The Jetta, about 1 inch on the inside of the tire wears completely out with good tread left on the rest of the tire. Is this unusual? And does anyone have any suggestions for what to do? Thanks, kevin

Check your struts and springs. And how much do you haul around in your trunks? If the insides are wearing there is too much positive camber... sagging springs. Your rear tires look like this /----\ in a slightly exaggerated view.

Good information, but also consider having a four wheel alignment check done.
Perhaps more basic : I would check the bearings adjustment/setting...
Well.... that is excellent advice, because if the bearings are sufficiently worn to cause excessive inner tread wear, the next condition is complete failure... which could be spectacularly unsettling.
