Short block for a 92 16V Passat GL?

Anybody have any idea what a short block for the 16V 92 engine would run? Or is there even something like that available?

Just got the word from the dealer that the engine is spitting as much oil out the cyl head gasket and other seals as Ecuador pumps per day... Relatively inexpensive, 8-900 in parts, but ??? for labor? Or is it even worth the effort?

The car is clean with a little rust in the rear edges of both front doors, but paint is clean and shiny, the interior is clean, she gets 30-34mpg on the highway with the AC running, and she burns regular gas...but....

Not just the head gasket, but according to the dealer, every other gasket and seal as well - for a car that would only blue book at about 1200-1500, trying to figure if there would be a way to save it or not.

Sell it then! A short block installed will probably push the cost up to $2000 or so and you are really talking another engine.

Where is this vehicle and is it very driveable? 8^)

Reseal that engine if you are doing the work yourself. Very expensive if you are paying someone else to do the work. :-( I would say do the head gasket first, then the front seals when you replace the timing belt/water pump.
