Stalling 2000 Polo

OK, I've had my 2000 model VW Polo for a couple of months and at least once a day, it stalls when I have come to a total stop at traffic lights/sitting in traffics/whatever. I've recently had the throttle body replaced and diagnostics checks don't bring up anything. I've also noticed the car "dips" (loses revs) occassionally. Anyone got any ideas what could be wrong? The mechanics I've seen have said wait until the problem gets worse, but I'm not satisfied with that answer...

Thanks in advance,

Acquiesce.

When you stall, can you restart right away? Or must you wait a few minutes? Does the starter make noise but the engine doesn't turn over?

I'm not sure if it's used in gasoline engine VWs, but in late model TDI VWs there was a defective relay, labelled Relay 109, that caused the car to stall and not retstart for a few minutes. This relay was changed over by the 2002 model year, but many older cars still have them.

Your car sounds like it could be having this problem. VW dealers know little or nothing about this part, but it's easy to change by yourself. It's located behind a couple of panels below the steering wheel. Once you see a group of relays, 109 is behind Relay 206 (I believe). Pull that out. If 109 is black, it's the faulty version. The good one is grey. Search tdiclub.com for Relay 109.
