Wheel Bearing Installer Tool info needed please

Looking to purchase one of these tools that also pulls the hub out of the bearing without having to pull the bearing carrier off of the VW/Audi. Also one that will not damage ABS components.

Yeah I could get the "cheapie" tool from Harbor Freight for $80 plus shipping.

it does not pull the hub out which I guess is its only drawback. I have looked the Parts Place

tool for $275 on page

  1. Sounds like it might be the one I will go with.

Also I am leaning towards the

$313 with free shipping Or the Hub Tamer

$339 with free shipping

Or the VW/Audi specific tool

$369 + $18 shipping totalling $387 Anyone with some info............please advise!

Have you tried Autozone? You can rent the tool by applying a deposit on it and getting the deposit upon returning the item. This way , you can try it before buying it. Just a thought.

Years ago I "mail-order" rented a front wheel bearing tool from RapidParts to do the front bearings in our 82 Rabbit convertible (which just qualified for antique tags!). I'm 99% sure it was made by "Schley" which, AFAIK, is the "official" DIY VW fromt wheel bearing tool.

I haven't looked at the PartsPlace catalog, but I'll bet it's the Schley tool. After a short web search, I believe it is the Schley Products tool No. 63500 or Schley Products tool No. 85500. Apparently, they also make an ABS adapter to got with it. $275 is about the right price.
