I find the sports seats on our e28 M535i to be quite high, even on the lower height settings. I'm fairly sure the mechanism isn't jammed as even the passenger seat fells the same.
Has anyone and tips to get them lower by modifying the mechanism?
Having had those out (of several US-spec 535is' - which is the functional equivalent of your M535i) and apart, my best guess is that you have no more available adjustment. The seat body bolts directly to the tracks and I don't recall any way you'd be able to reasonably modify that setup. This is for the power version of the sport seats that we got here. I'm afraid your best option is different seats custom mounted to the body.
