2001 Dodge Caravan Electrical Issues

Hello. I was hoping for a little insight to some electrical issues I am having w/ my 2001 Caravan. It's the base model. I have a couple of different things going on.

The first, which has been happening for months and I have been ignoring it, is that the door ajar chime intermittently comes on and then the dome lights stay on. I understand this could be the door ajar switch and do plan on replacing that pretty soon. It's not a big deal, just annoying at times.

The second problem I have can't wait. While I am out driving and use the turn signals, I intermittently lose all power to the instrument panel. In addition to the power loss on the panel, the signals themselves quit working (flashing). I still have brake lights, but no turn signals, no speedometer, no fuel gauge, etc. Sometimes the power comes back on in a few minutes. Sometimes it takes a few days. It seems to be completely random.

One thing I noticed is that the door ajar chime still comes on even when the power is out if that helps to isolate anything.

Does anyone know where I should start looking? I am wondering if the two issues are related. I purchased one of the Hayes repair manuals that have the schematics in it and would like to try to do this myself rather than paying for it as I am broke at the moment.

Any help would be much appreciated!

TIA! Dave
