It can be sent via regular mail for a lot less :). I'd think about it if this were the case. Joe--ASE Certified Parts Specialist & 10th Ann.Club Tech Director '80 Carousel Red Turbo T/A, 27k orig. Parcel Post, half of that and will get to you a day later at most... Joe--ASE Certified Parts Specialist & 10th Ann.Club Tech Director '80 Carousel Red Turbo T/A, 27k orig. '79 "Y89" 400/4 speed 10th Ann. T/A, 57k orig '84 Olds 88 Royale Bgm 2 dr, 307 "Rocket" (lol), 143k and still going....
60 bux for that.. wow. I guess I just dont see the 60 value in it... besides, I had it on ebay for $5 min bid (including shipping) for 7 days and not one bid on it..
so there it is.. then the guy that bought it can make a quick & easy 50 off it.. good for him. I stick to my deals.
Priority mail: Ship on Saturday, there by Monday, Tuesday the latest.
I ship engine parts and small engine stuff to my friend in MS from NYC all the time.
Within 5 days max (most times sooner), using Parcel post or media, he's holding the stuff.
And, it depends on destination :). Ground to PA lets say from NYC, is almost the same as air to PA from NYC. A day at most difference?
You could ship that knob for about $3 across the country and be holding it in a week's time. Joe--ASE Certified Parts Specialist & 10th Ann.Club Tech Director '80 Carousel Red Turbo T/A, 27k orig. Ahh... As you said, it depends on where you live and how far it's going. If you live in a large city near a Bulk Mail Center, (BMC), shipping by ground will be fairly quick. On the other hand, if the BMC is a long ways away, you add time. For instance, I live in Southern Oregon. If I ship by ground to LA, the package gets trucked all the way up to Seattle, the nearest BMC, gets sorted, then trucked all the way down to LA. But if I ship by air, it flies from my local airport, directly down to LA, nonstop. That equals a lot of time saved. And you might be surprised by how little you save by shipping by ground at times. Often times a dollar or less. HD
Joe, my dad used to run across Firebird Hurst shifters all the time in the junkyard in the late 70's. Now those are $75 items. He could have grabbed complete RA IV and 455 HO engines for a couple hundred bucks. Now a 455 HO engine is worth atleast $3500 and the 1971 heads fetch $1500-$2000. A restored
455 HO carb is worth $800-$1000. My dad has a NOS 70-72 455 HO GTO air cleaner that he bought for $20 years ago. Now its probably worth $1500.
The repops I've seen have rounded edges and cheap looking. I'm still waiting for the 70-75 style to be repoped. The one on my 71 T/A has a little wear.
Case in point. The Firebird OEM power antenna relay is like $150 and a couple year part.
The Camaro relay is electrically IDENTICAL and is hidden behind the dash like the Bird. I made one work and you can't tell the difference. Someone gave me 4 OEM NOS ones. LOL.
Ya have to know what will interchange. Also, the repops get better as time goes on.
I remember 10th Anniversary Trans Ams being $1000 used cars when I was in HS back in the late 80's. One of the guys in my group sold a rotten shell of a
10th from FL for $1000!!! Joe--ASE Certified Parts Specialist & 10th Ann.Club Tech Director '80 Carousel Red Turbo T/A, 27k orig. '79 "Y89" 400/4 speed 10th Ann. T/A, 57k orig '84 Olds 88 Royale Bgm 2 dr, 307 "Rocket" (lol), 143k and still going....
