F250 Washer Fluid doesn't work...Any Ideas?

Greetings,

I have an F250 that has a windshield washer that doesn't work. There is power at the fuse block (the wiper and washer are on an 8.25 amp circuit breaker) and I've replaced both the motor and the column-mounted wiper/washer/turn signal/headlight dimmer assembly without luck. When I push the button to activate the washer I hear a relay in the wiper control module click and the wipers engage but the washer motor doesn't run. I have thought of replacing the wiper control module but at ~$100 for the module I thought I'd see if anyone here had a suggestion before I fork over the $ for a new module. TIA for your responses.

Have you checked to make sure that power is actualy getting to the pump? You could have something as simple as a broken wire or a bad ground.

Or a plugged hose going to the windshield?

Hi Dick,

Yes, when I apply power to the pump it works correctly and the wiring appears to be intact. I replaced the column unit at the suggestion of the local Ford dealer, who mentioned that the unit is often the source of this problem. The unit was ready to be replaced anyway as the turn signal control was getting pretty loose and wouldn't "click" and lock into position when signalling to make a turn. I suspect that the wiper control module (which behind the glove compartment on the passenger side of the vehicle is now the best bet as the source of the fault...I just hate this "trial and error" method of resolving electrical issues :-).
