Leaking E150

I have a 2000 Econoline E150 with the 5.4L V8. It's leaking tranny fluid (I think - at least it's that pinkish red color.) The whole front end is covered with it - to the point that it's dripping off the front stabilizer bar. This particular E150 has the towing package (I think) since it has what appears to be a large oil cooler in the front. I'm guessing that it's actually the tranny fluid cooler.

The weird thing is that all fluid levels are normal. I just drove 2K miles, and the tranny fluid, power steering fluid, and engine oil are all normal. Yet it's dripping reddish pink tranny stuff all over the place (you can see drops forming on the stabilizer bar, and if you leave it parked it will drip in a straight line about 18" long.)

Any idea what this might be and where to start looking?

I might add that while the tranny cooler (?) looks to be factory installed - it's got real metal brackets and bolts, instead of those after market nylon through the radiator things - it has regular screw type hose clamps instead of the factory spring kind.

Since I bought this used, and it's a conversion, I'm not sure about its past....

I've never seen one of those factory-installed coolers leak (the cooler itself)

best bet is to remove the grille (not too bad, just find all the screws) and start looking at all the hoses and connections

you may find a loose clamp or a hose or metal line that has rubbed against something else and has a pin-hole (the amount ot ATF that can escape from even a tiny hole is pretty amazing)
