Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement

Removal Procedure

Caution Before servicing any electrical component, the ignition key must be in the OFF or LOCK position and all electrical loads must be OFF, unless instructed otherwise in these procedures. If a tool or equipment could easily come in contact with a live exposed electrical terminal, also disconnect the negative battery cable. Failure to follow these precautions may cause personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or its components.

Disconnect the negative battery cable. Remove the air cleaner cover by releasing the retainer clips. Remove the air cleaner element. Disconnect the MAF sensor harness connector. Remove the air cleaner cover and MAF sensor by loosening the hose clamp. Clear out any debris in the air cleaner tub. Remove the air cleaner tub by pulling upward on the tub until the mounting grommets are free from the mounting studs.

Installation Procedure

Install the air cleaner tub by pressing downward on the tub until the grommets are seated on the mounting studs. Insert the air cleaner element into the air cleaner tub.

Notice Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

Install the air cleaner cover and MAF sensor. Tighten Tighten the clamp to 4 N·m (31 lb in) Install the air cleaner cover. Fasten the air cleaner cover retainer clips. Connect the MAF sensor harness connector. Connect the negative battery cable.

I don't think you got your original question answered. To remove the doghouse there are two screws that go into it from inside the engine compartment. They are like a spring loaded screw and take just a couple of turns to release them. If you unscrew these and release the lower clamps inside the van, and if I can recall remove the glove compartment? It should then pull out of the way.

Sorry, I didn't know what you were referring to as a "doghouse." Do the following procedures help any?

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Drive Belt Replacement

Removal Procedure

Remove the air cleaner assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement in Engine Controls. Remove the air cleaner outlet duct from the throttle body. Refer to Air Cleaner Outlet Duct Replacement in Engine Controls. Install a 3/8 inch drive wrench on the drive belt tensioner arm and rotate the arm counterclockwise. Remove the drive belt. Slowly release the tension on the drive belt tensioner arm.

Installation Procedure

Route the belt over all the pulleys except the tensioner arm. Observe drive belt routing for vehicles without air conditioning. Observe drive belt routing for vehicles with air conditioning. Install a 3/8 inch drive wrench on the drive belt tensioner arm and rotate the arm counterclockwise. Install the drive belt over the drive belt tensioner pulley. Slowly release the tension on the tensioner arm. Inspect for the drive belt being properly installed on the pulleys. Avoid mis-positioning the drive belt by one or more grooves.

Confirm for the proper drive belt size and the correct drive belt routing by observing the location of the fix pointer and the index marks on the drive belt tensioner. With a new drive belt installed, the fix pointer should align within the indentation on the drive belt tensioner.

With a used drive belt installed, the fix pointer should not align past the index mark. Install the air cleaner outlet duct. Refer to Air Cleaner Outlet Duct Replacement in Engine Controls. Install the air cleaner assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement in Engine Controls.
