A4 Electric Windows?

Why do my electric windows wind down when I turn the door key and hold it clockwise on my 1998 Audi A4 Avant 1.9 TDi

Cos somebodys hooked up/programmed something back to front, they're supposed to close, so presumably somethings literally crossed the wires.

supposed to close, so presumably somethings literally crossed the wires.

Turn the key in the opposite direction and the windows wind down

Should that say content? :-)

So you can let the heat out on a hot day before getting in the car!

Cetified content free as well?

Presumably so that it will cool down faster on a hot day when you are getting in. If you do the same when the car is unlocked, do they all wind up again (something that's rather more common) ?

Well, unless it's supposed to do that (RTM!) this could be happening for the same reason you can get into any recent Golf etc with just a screwdriver - there's a design flaw that tips the central locking & windows if you force the lock to/beyond its end stop.
