Thanks for your quick reply.

The car does have a service light on the dash. would that not light up also ?

It has been serviced in the last month after this problem occured.

Any other ideas ?

Most likely a failed oil level sensor.

Mine does that too. Don't think its a warning, just a precautionary display of your oil level. Annoying when you just want to check the trip mileage, or zero the counter at petrol station - you have to wait.

If I press the trip reset button once, lightly it removes the display without resetting the trip.

Looks like it must be a renault thing then, bit like the crap turbos and squeaky breaks

8-)

Add to that, has it always done it?

No, did it after turbo and head gasket change about 9 months ago

You've put up with it for 9 months? Hell, my wife has grown babies quicker than that. I would go back to the people who did the head at least 8 months ago.

That'll be BRAKES then. And shit head gaskets.

It's just the oil level. Looks like this when full:

ooooo

When empty:

______

And when half-full:

ooo___

Mine doesn't appear to have a dipstick, so this is the only way I can tell if it needs oil or not. If it gets down to zero it flashes from what I remember last time it did it. If you press the trip reset button it goes away, like you said.
