Because Rich originally crossed it here and in a few Canadian groups.

A good example of opinion masquerading as face. Proof asked for and the author heads for the door.

One of the reports from the government I found funny (as it counts on the 'great unwashed' being stupid) claiming that the HST will create over 500K jobs over the next ten years. Given Ontario's rate of population growth and immigration, organically, there will be at least that many jobs 'created' over the next decade.

Now, if you can tell us WHERE we can find such report, I will join you in the laugh. Any politician who says that any changes to sales tax will produce half a million jobs in the enxt 10 years deserves to be laughed at.

Unfortunately, we only have your word.

Speaking of the great unwashed.... You got your 'facts' wrong'. The report is not from the government.

"Today's announcement comes one week after a report released by economist and tax expert Jack Mintz stated that the HST, together with other tax changes would create an estimated 591,000 net new jobs over ten years." (1)

"A report released today by economist and tax expert Jack Mintz states that a harmonized sales tax combined with Ontario=92s proposed corporate income tax cuts and other recent tax changes would significantly increase jobs, boost capital investment and lead to higher annual incomes for Ontarians. The report predicts that over the next 10 years, as a result of these tax measures, Ontario would see: =95 591,000 net new jobs" (2)

Not being an Ontarionionion (well Dad was.. and then WW2 happened), I can't comment on the "harmonized part of HST. There is a very real chance that Ontario is taxing things even something as audacious as GST wouldn't dare.

I live in Alberta (neener-neener) but Ed Stelmach (one of the most Liberal Conservatives I have ever seen) is busy trying to unravel all the good that Ralph Klein created....

Back to the chase... From what I read, somebody is expecting to see an epidemic of new jobs because a doughnut and cup of coffee will be tax free? FerKrissakes, I hope I am mistaken....
