V6 Mustang Feedback?

Old Ma Jet has relocated to my general neighborhood for her retirement years. Oh joy. I told her there is no way in blazes that I'm fixing or maintaining her '87 Tie-yoder Cee-likka. So it was off to the Phjordhh dealer to look at new stuff.

After momentarily giving me the heebeejeebees by looking closely at Foci, or Focuses, or whatever, she wisely decided she liked the Mustangs better. I'm sure the homocidal look in my eyes had absolutely nothing to do with it.

Of course, the V6 auto is the only choice in this category. Any inherent problems? Anybody here have a new one? Likes or dislikes?

The sales vulture told me that they were at model year's end. When are the 2005's *really* due out? Scheduled price increase for the new body style? Are the online purchase companies a crock 'o poopy?

What's the scoop?

All depends on what ya mean by new? If you are talking about the current incarnation of the model then yes I have exactly what Mom's was looking at. Black, Pony Package, Drop-top, Auto,V-6. It is my youngest daughters daily driver right now, and it was mine for the first two years I owned it.

No problems other then the SpeedO not reading properly. It has never had to be in for warranty service since I've had it.

September I think. If I could wait, I would wait. I think one of their major goals was to hold the line on prices & keep them affordable. However, because of all the rebates right now, along with the interest rates, it might be a better idea to buy an `04 if Moms is happy with it.

The online companies can be good & can be bad, depends on which one. If you belong to a Sam's Club, they have a pretty good program that is => then any of the online shops.

absolutely

The scoop is the thing sticking out of a Mach 1's hood. But you already knew that.

Of course the V6s are fine. There's only about a gazillion of 'em running around with no problems. You may want to check various dealer stock over the internet to see how much inventory is around. Chances are good that if there are still a ton on the lots you'll get a decent price. Figure a few hundred over invoice is "fair" (subjective term). Dealers still make more due to holdback, etc.

Get MJ the V6, but make her pay for it. Any way you can wangle a finder's fee out of her?

This is true.

Thanks to you and ZWoof for the info.

Oh yeah, like I'm gonna buy a car for a woman who just sold a two-story house in L.A. that she (and my dad) bought new in 1958.

In her mind, she's doing *me* a favor by buying a Mustang, 'cuz that's what she'll leave behind when she kicks the bucket. Finder's fee my butt.

CJ,

Hold out for the 05 Mustang. When you sit behind the wheel you would swear you were looking at the dash of you California Special. It is the closest thing you will get to 60's style. Since it will be yours someday, you should consider this.
