Car bounces/sways and bottoms out.

My '96 Buick sways alot when I corner, and when I go over a speed bump (even at a crawl) the car will drop to the ground, like the front tires are touching the wheel well. Is there a definitive test to determine if I should replace my suspension? And if so, do the front struts need to be replaced, or can you replace the cartridges inside?

thanks Nadeem

I sounds like you are definitely in need of new struts, probably rear as well as front. Don't know if this model (actually you don't say which model it is) uses replaceable cartridges.

In the past, the test was to rock the car up and down by bouncing on the bumper when the car was sitting still. If it continued moving more than two times up and down, it needed new shocks (or struts).
