Torque converter replacement/1991 Camry V6

Would welcome any information (tips, shortcuts) regarding the necessity of pulling the engine to replace a torque converter in a

1991 Camry V6. My factory service manual for this year and model appears to indicate that this is a requirement, but if it is not necessary or an alternative method is available, it might save a substantial amount of time and a lot of work. Thanks in advance for any assistance which may be provided.

TCs rarely fail, infact they are one of those car-components that can be viewed as maint free for the life of the car. Why do you think it has failed?

To get to it, either the automatic-trans or the engine has to come out,..there are no easier ways. It lives sandwiched between the engine and trans.
