OT: Need file for: Packard Bell Diamond 1200Plus

Hi all! Sorry abbout the OT here, but I'm stuck with my new scanner...

The instalation disk is somehow corrupted (Allready got a replacement once, still no go..), so I am in the need of the file: "Keyevent.DLL" for the before mentioned scanner.

Any help appreciated!! And yes, I have searched Google and Driverforum... :-\

Note: You probably need *all* the drivers. As soon as you feed it Keyevent.dll, it will ask for the next one it doesn't have, etc.

Have you tried the

and model 1200 CU or 1200 CU Plus drivers. I believe your scanner is manufactured by Mustek. This site needs two first letters of your scanner serial number though.

I would not try to find a working keyevent.dll but a working complete set of drivers. Most propably your driver is not compatible with your system and it complains about the DLL because of that. Fixing that single DLL might do something good or then not.

Sure it can't be found oin your Win2000 install CD? Maybe you are looking for it in teh wrong place and it's a part of Win, not scanner software. Just a thought. Happened to me.

Thanx Olli!! This is exactly what I need, my serial number does not have two characters up front though, so I can't access the site...

Nothing a bit of brute force (with Perl and LWP) wouldn't do:

Products and letters:

BearPaw 1200 LJ BearPaw 1200 F LP BearPaw 1200 TA QV BearPaw 1200 CS RJ BearPaw 1200 CU OZ BearPaw 1200 CU Plus XX

I think yours is a 1200 CU Plus clone.

If the drivers aren't good for you, I suggest more googling around ;)

Couple of minutes of perl programming and then just wait for the results... I made a short script that tries all of the two letter combinations to that site and finds the combinations that don't give an error. After 10 minutes of running the script in the background and we had the codes.

NERD!!! :-) I'm jealous. I've done some PERL but nothing that interacts with anything other than keyboard input. Cool stuff. Cool NERDY stuff, but still cool stuff. :-) I do almost all of my scripting with TCL.

Usually I do it with Python, but at least the version I am using did not seem to have anything handy to do HTTP-POST-requests. Had to switch to Perl, which I don't know as well as Python.

Feeling nervous. An hour ago Shaggie was pissed off and greasing his gun. Now he thinks Perl is cool...

Used to give in C++ programming, when I was studying in the university. Not anymore though. Haven't been programming much either in last two years or so.
