89 ponitac grand am

My 89 pontiac grand am overheats and then stalls. There is over 200,000 miles on it. The engine is strong still. If you go a very short distance to where it doesn't overheat then your ok but if not then it overheats and stalls.

my guess is that the radiator is clogged due to not flushing. Also, hows the electric fan working. Maybe a radiator replacement is necessary

What engine? The Quad4 is hard to fill with coolant and you could have air trapped in the engine although the tank is full.
