gas guage

I have 84 c-30 & 87 GMC p/u both have had the fuel guage go south at about the same time, they are pinned way past full. is this a ground problem or...? TIA

pegged means that you've got a short to ground somewhere in the wiring before the sending unit. (check the wiring harness where it crosses over the engine then drops down past the exhaust, that's a common place for burn-through of the insulation, at least for mine.)
