Help w/fuel pump 99 Suburban

Need to know how to get the fuel pump out of it's housing on a 99 GMC Suburban... we have already dropped the tank and removed the fuel pump housing, just can't figure out how to get the fuel pump out of the housing.

Thanks, Dump

I just changed the fuel pump on my 99 suburban 6 months ago. I also thought I could change just the fuel pump, but found that I needed to replace the whole sending unit assembly. It was pretty easy, and it also took care of the problem my fuel guage was having (not reading anywhere close to accurate). Also, you might want to consider replacing the pigtail connector on the truck side of the electrical connection. I had to pull the tank twice more before I found this probem, and the guy at the dealership had the part number memorized. About $300 for the fuel sending unit, and $40 for the pigtail connector (as far as I can remember).

Hope this helps.

Ok I worded this wrong... I need help on how to get the fuel pump out of the sending unit. The sending unit and pump can be replaced or just the pump can be replaced, we are choosing to just replace the pump. I have replaced a fuel pump in our 88 Suburban but that was totally different than this 99 model

Thanks for any help on this, Dum

1992 UP GM Canister Style Sending Units are meant to be replaced as a whole assembly. Some of them can be field serviced, others can not. Charles
