We are, "old john", we are! Guys like snoman have to be taught.

What do you do for a living? What would you do if someone comes along and started spouting obvious lies and half truthes about area's of knowledge that you were intimately acquainted with? Just let it slide? Or would you call someone on that?

Well, if you think the idiot is right most of the time ya haven't seemed to have learned much in your 71 years.

Of course one should, but the way you, and a couple of others, do it, I'm starting to expect that if "Snoman" were to claim that 2+2=4, you guys would immediately be all over him, calling him a liar, and showering him with insults not suited for a family audience.

In my humble opinion, "Snoman" seems to be a pretty knowledgeable fellow, who spends quite a bit of time and effort trying to help people here -- just like yourself. If and when he says something you believe is wrong, or even just that you have a better answer to, please speak out, in a civilized manner. That idiotic rant that was just posted, about "the abominable Snoman", just serves the opposite purpose: it tells me that the person who posted it, and those who cheered his action, should be treated with caution, and their advice taken with a grain of salt.

WOW!!! that's all I can say.

Screw it Ian! Let these people police the idiot. When he hurts sombody or screw's up they're car or truck, the people of this guy's ilk can try to explain away the idiot's actions.

I too agree with "old John".... all this name calling and personal attacks help no-one. People make mistakes, some of the issues here are opinions, rather than statements of fact.

At least some people take the time to answer questions and offer advice. Its like anything else...sometimes you ask the same question of more than one person.

I think Snoman is right most of the time too....like I said above some of his posts just like some of the others here are opinions based on experience.

Are there some gaps in his advice....well most likely there are...as is the case with most people. I take issue with some of the information posted here but I don't resort to arguing the point in the ground or making personal attacks of that person.

I'm no expert, and I don't represent myself as one. I ask questions here sometimes to see what others have experienced, and to maybe gain some insight into fixing a problem in a timely manner, or to see what others may have done in the area of modifications.

This group is a great resource..... how about dropping the name calling and the personal references?

First of all, we haven't done anything remotely close to calling him a liar when/if he's posted correct information. He's been proven wrong on numerous inaccuracies but refuses to put his ego aside and recant. Then again, given his track record, him saying 2+2=4 would be highly suspect just on principle.

Time yes. Effort, no. Most is outdated by decades. (re: relating his 18 year old pick up to a current post here regarding a 99 Suburban)

Been there, done that. Check the post by Doug a few days ago regarding anti-rattle clips for a 1 ton Diesel G van with Bendix brakes. I posted a 100% correct answer with a link to a picture of the clip orientation. Snoball wasted no time jumping all over it claiming it was wrong information. Snoball fails in that he put no effort into making himself aware of the various brake types used by GM, he fails in not having read Doug's description of the brakes he was working on, he fails in comprehension due to the fact that I even mentioned in my reply to Doug that even though the picture was that of a Ford brake pad with clip installed correctly, that I was all wrong for showing a Ford brake pad. And even though Snojob had previously answered Doug incorrectly, I held my tongue in a civil mannner and simply provided Doug with the information that he needed to fix his truck brakes correctly. I say bullshit to the notion that he should be treated in a civilized manner, his ego precedes everything that he does.

By his own admission today, he is a "hobbiest." As a hobbiest, it would take him years, maybe decades to glean the experience that myself and Ian and the other professionals here see in one weeks time, and I mean that individually, not collectively. By his own admission, Snojob has admitted to resorting to illegal, unsafe, dangerous backyard hack procedures to effect certain repairs. Being a hobbiest also tells me that Snojob has an emotional attachment to the topics he posts most often about. Emotion clouds judgment. When you mix ego, emotion and clouded judgment, disaster is soon to follow.

When I was in school, the troublemakers, the loudmouths, the disruptors were removed from the classroom, if they continued their behavior, they were removed permanently. Naturally (due to their behavior) their wrong/incomplete answers got them a failing grade which either resulted in a repeat of the course or they simply became dropouts.

Got no use for flunkers and dropouts.

Bingo!

Now if just one other individual here could learn to accept himself that way.

I'll tell you what, Tom. Feel free to ignore anything that I post here. I don't have a problem with that.
