80

Hi - new to this particular group, and also to older Audis - so perhaps the expertise here can help me!

I'm buying a 1994 (L plated) 80 saloon - resonable car in reasonable condition at a reasonable price - I've had a lot of Audis before, but always paid for by someone else ;-) and I've not had to work on them myself!!

So - thoughts please on:

A) Can I get a workshop manual - either hard-copy or CD - any ideas where? B) There doesnt seem to be a Haynes for this model - but there is for the earlier 80 - given that the main difference appears to be that this one has a much bigger boot that the last 80 I had, are the nechanicals basically the same? If so, will the early 80 manual suffice for the main mechanicals, drive train etc?? C) Suggestions for useful, helpful Audi web-sites ? This seems to be a good ng btw. D) Good (UK) specialist mags for "diy'ers" ? E) Finally - this one is a 1.6 (sadly) - but a nippy one. Is a 1.8 or 2.0 transplant a viable "bolt in" or do I get caught out by the electrics and/or mechanicals being different?

Many thanks for any help - Mike.

Haynes won't do one - no demand. Possibly the US Robert Bentley manual?

has on-line manuals for sale. May include your model.

Similar. But no 1.6 engine.

If so, will the early 80 manual suffice for the main mechanicals,

Try

Audi Driver OK if your vehicle is less than 6 months old. Personally I like "Car Mechanic", next issue on sale 19th December.

Wouldn't do it myself. Engine+gearbox/final drive swap+wiring loom+ECU.... Simpler and cheaper to buy a 80 2.0, surely?

Ian.
