Hi, The red dashboard light "airbag" is on. Dealer says the control box has to be replaced and the cost is enormous. Has someone ideas? thanks

Well a bit more information wold be helpfull. Which car & what year?
Car? type, model, make, age? if its never been in a crash and the control module has gone, then maybe Audi can help pay the cost, as I have heard of out of warranty claims before on Airbag control modules.
Speak to your local dealer about why it has happened.

Otherwise try a scrap yard, but beware the airbag is there to save your life, fitting a new one is the best option...
