Can anybody help. My 1993 Audi 500SE (2.3 5cyl) starts when cold but will not idle. When she is at operating temperature only a tow from another car will get her started, and you have to keep her running at more than 2000rpm otherwise she just dies. When driving on the open road she goes well ie. no problem. Please advise

In the type 44 incarnation of this engine there were a few fuses in the engine compartment fuse box that some thought were spares but were actually engine management fuses.
- vacuum leaks are a frequent cause of this problem
- dirty fuel filter
- check connections on the fuel pressure modulator (electrical plug on the front of the fuel distributor)
- temperature sensor problems could be a cause
Try to pull the codes.
