1982 chevy scottsdale- won't start

ok, i have a 1982 chevy scottsdale 6.2 liter diesel truck that wont start, it has been sitting for a long while and i think it has something to do with the starter, NEED HELP ASAP!!!

You've got to do better than that, or nobody will help you. "Truck won't start." It's supposed to mean that you crank and crank and crank, but the engine will not start. That would have absolutely nothing to do with the starter, because the starter is working just fine. The starter has absolutely nothing to do with the fuel and air going bang inside the cylinder.

In your case, "Truck won't TURN OVER" is probably more appropriate, since you say that you think the problem is with the starter. On a truck that was starting and running a while ago, that usually means your battery cables are corroded and need to be replaced. If the truck does nothing with a fresh battery and a jump from another vehicle, or just goes "click click click," then replace the battery cables.
