anyone have a clue what the gas tank capacity is? Cant find anyone that seems to know for sure have 2006 2500HD 6.6 turbo diesel reg bed

One option would be look at JC Whitney. If you had to order one, there you could find the capacities.
Long bed 34 gallons, short bed 26 gallons.

sorry mis-spoke - diesel tank......
according to several other duramax owners - it may say 26 but ya may never show that at pumps - even on E it only takes about 22 gallons
Try running it until the engine stops, then you will be able to put 26+ gallons in if you fill it up to the filler tube lip. Typically you will have 3-4 gallons left when the guage reads empty and the yellow low fuel light comes on.
