Fuel Pump Heartache - Comment and a Question

Hi all,Read the post from Big Chris on replacing the fuel pump in his S-10.I just dropped the tank on my 1/2 ton tonite. And yes, the bastardthat designed that system should be jailed without trial, perhaps evenpublically stoned. It's obvious that they hang the tank and all it'shardware BEFORE putting the bed on. WHY ELSE WOULD I HAVE TO BE ANACROBAT TO GET THE HOSE CLAMPS OFF?!?!?!?!?!?!?!? AAAGGGHH!!!Anyhow, the lines on my sender are completely shot. 9 years of use, Iguess it's time. I had to snip the two rubber hoses to get the tankdown. Question: The "female ends" on the in/out lines are ok. Can Ijust use a hose repair kit to reconnect, then hook these back up tothe sender? It sure could be, imagine a $2 cost per vehicle, times the number of vehicles ......

The flip side to that arguement is that nobody would notice an additional vehicle price of $2 more if that was all the cost involved. Even on a $10,000 new vehicle, it would be worth that extra $2 to the consumer if that was all it cost.
