How do you replace the Stator?

On a 4.3 Chevy distributor. Does the trigger lift off or do you have to remove the Distributor remove the gear and pull the shaft out the top to remove the Stator? I tried to pull the trigger off the top but it ain't move'n Appreciate any help ... Thanks ....

If you mean you need to change the pickup coil in the distributor, you need take apart as you mentioned. Make reference marks so you put it back in as close as possible with regards to distributor and rotor positions. The engine should start and you may have to reset the timing a bit. The pickup coil should be under $20.00. Just curious, why do you feel the pickup coil needs to be changed?
