Lazer detector trips in an '04.

I got a weird one.

I have a Valentine 1 radar detector. It worked great in my '00 S10. Just fine in my '02 Avalanche. But in my '04 Silverado SS, it's lazer detector goes off anytime I give the truck 'moderate' throttle.

Any idea's?

Some info:

The lazer goes off anytime I pull up close to a convenience store.

It goes off anytime snow blows across the windshield, on a sunny day. (snow breaking down the light like prisms... that makes sense)

It goes off anytime I pull up behind a Trailblazer or Envoy. I don't know if it's the backup sensors or the tailights giving off some funny light. It's ONLY those two vehicles though.

I recently swapped out the stock 900 ohm plug wires, with 35-40 ohm aftermarket wires. Right after the upgrade, the lazer warnings went away almost completely. The truck wasn't running like it's usual self, either. A little down on power. Over the last week, the power is back, and the lazer's are back to their usual frequency.

Thanks,

-marc

Others have found the TB/Envoy to trigger detectors, that's not just you. The auto opening doors in the covenience store trigger my Bel all the time, but that one is X band most of the time. Dunno about the snow though.

Lots of folks call them "mall detectors" :) The auto door openers on supermarkets use radar to detect a body. Mike
