Here is my problems:
While in park i have high idling over 2000 RPM's, check engine light is on and as i go to slow down it seems to jerk a little as i am coming to a complete stop. I need some help with this as i am not even remotely close to being a mechanic.

Start with having the fault code. If the lite is on a fault has been set, find someone with a scan tool to read the code.

Or flick the key on and off three times, ending with on (NOT START!). Count the blinks, write the numbers down and relay them here... There is a pause between the blinks for each new number...
that procedure is not accurate for that year vehicle.
A '97 will not do the key-fick? Here is another thread that would seem to indicate that it works...
