99 Intrepid Front door speaker changes

Hey, Just wondering for whoever may read this. The front door speakers on my 99 Intrepid ES are pretty much going. It's the Infinity system which dissapoints me but I'm looking at what speakers to use to replace them. Any recomendations in terms of sound quality and get the bass pumping a little bit for what speakers to use. and would the speakers adapt no problem or plug right in to the wires running there already or would I have to make a few changes/additions? Any comments or tips would be much appreciated.

I hesitate to recommend a particular speaker or brand, because no matter what I recommend it will either be "not good enough" for what you think your needs are, or "too expensive". But, you might take a look at Pioneer's line of speakers. They will definitely be a step up, and are moderately priced.

Be aware that the round door speakers on Chryslers are not the standard mounting - (almost) all other cars use four screws at 90° spacing for mounting - strangely, the Chryslers use three screws at 120°. The nice thing about many of the Pioneers that you would want to consider is that they come with Chrysler adapter rings (should say so in their descriptions).

Also, you can move up in size - IIRC like 1/4" or 1/2" from the factory size for that location (something like 6-3/4 vs. 6-1/2 - it's been a while since I did mine - but check the apps. listings of the speakers.

I just checked, and the speakers are referred to by Pioneer as "oversize

6-1/2". I'd give you the model number that I got as a starting point in your search, but I don't have the boxes any more. The speakers are tri-axial, as opposed to the original single driver (possibly two).
