Can a 4-tire TPM system be "mistakenly" reprogrammed to a 5-tire TPM system causing an error message to display on the EVIC reading "TIRE SENSOR BAD/MISSING"?? If so, can this be reset by the owner without the DRBIII® I/O and how?

It sounds as if you have a bad tire sensor, even if it had a spare tire sensor it would tell you the spare tire sensor is at fault .
