Jeep Wheel Question

I have a 1992 Jeep Cherokee (Picture below) with the wheels painted with silver paint (Done by previous owner). He had done a terrible job painting it and he painted over the black Jeep centres to. Is there a way I can fix these and make them look good again? Thanks

Chris & Mary did pass the time by typing:

Do you see the word .binaries in this or the other newsgroups name?

Please don't post images to ramjw. alt.binaries.pictures.autos.4x4 is the binary group.

Lots of people still use dial-up and pay-by-the-bandwidth style services.

That being said, you will have to strip, prep, and paint them yourself or pay someone else to.

It looks like your ISP stripped the binary image since it was posted to non-binary groups.

Yes, there are things you can do. If they are steel wheels you can probably scrub the paint off with a wire brush and sandpaper down so it is smooth, nothing loose, and ready to prep and repaint. Use a good prep and then wipe with tack free cloth.

If those are aluminum, you may want to have them bead blasted rather than trying to do it yourself. Then paint prep and wipe.

On Google, there are specialty paint kits available for car wheels. And in many major urban areas, specialty shops who will paint and then clearcoat wheels.

Whether all of this is cheaper and easier than simply buying a set of aftermarket wheels only you can answer.

Are they steal? or aluminum? if steal, just take the wire brush to them, a bit of sandpaper then prime them (I usually just use tremclad for this) then Just spray them with your choice of regular automotive paint. As for the centers, you could try lightly sanding them down with 180 or 220 grit and paint them as you wish, or you might just want to look around on ebay for used centers. Just beware that some centers will not work with some wheel styles.
