PT cruiser damp patch ?

Hi all,

I have a late 2003 / early 2004 PT with a suspicious tendency !

This is only noticed on dry days. After the car has been parked for a while, I have observed a patch of 'wet' on the ground, just under the left hand drive shaft. The fluid appears to be water based and not coming from the drive shaft boot. Could this be a vapour/condensation release from the air con cooling system ? The car hasn't even seen the first service yet, so this may come to light then.

I like the motor so far, but have had a couple of annoying problems arise. The tilt/adjustment function has packed up on the front passenger seat, and I suspect the cat converter may have to be checked (smell of sulphur, occasionally).

Obviously this is all under warranty. Would like your thoughts / comments.

Air conditioning condensation is normal if ac or defroster is on.  Sulphersmell probably from bad fuel.  Toyota has the same problem here in the USwith several brand fuels.

Just noticed earlier messages about a steering fluid leak ..... Made mewonder.  The fluid I have noticed is definitely water based. Just water from the a/c system dripping out.

The sulphur smell is most often associated with the gas you are burning. Have them check it for you when you get the seat fixed but don't be suprised if they say its functioning properly. Steve B.

Yep.Not the fault of the converter -- buy a different brand of petrol. I'msurprised they're still selling high-sulphur fuel in the UK, but I supposeI shouldn't be -- the UK was one of the last 1st-world countries to dropleaded petrol!-Stern
