Anyone know what size of socket you have to use to remove the crankshaft

Yeah once you whang the s*it outta the balancer with a big fukking hammer in order to catch thread with the bolt.
Actually it does have to be tapped on quite a ways for the threads to catch. Rubber mallet will do but the correct way is to have or build an installation tool. It's 3/4" Fine Thread, so 6" piece of threaded rod stock and a nut will work, It's what I use. A small block bolt is about
3/4" longer ( and the same 3/4" fine thread) and can be used to pull it in quite a ways then put the correct (shorter) big block bolt in and tighten the rest of the way. DodgeboyYou were right! Thanks!

YMMV, I guess. I've NEVER had to use anything but a few light taps and then the standard bolt. On many different engines.
