Stock GM 12-bolt truck Diff Strength

I was wondering if a stock 12 bolt truck rear end (w/ eaton posi) would be able to take 650 to 700 horsepower (at the crank). If not what is the best way to strengthen it, without buying ford 9.

Thanks.

you have no way got anywhere near that much power. if ya did, you would be spending righteous bucks on the best of everything including the chassis.

In the "good ol' days", if you took a 12 bolt and installed the beefy axles from Chevrolet with the large size (7/16" I think they were) wheel studs, they'd take just about anything you could throw at 'em...

Probably wouldn't need to convert to 9" Ford rear unless you were developing some SERIOUS hp, like 1000+ using some monster slicks.
