77 spitfire

I have 77 spitfire with weber carb. I have problems with the fuel flooding into the carb and have read where you should put a fuel pressure regulator on to dial it down to 1.5 psi. Can any one recommend where to but one? Also, can you also recommend where to buy an electric fuel pump? thanks tom penno

Any well-stocked motor factor will be able to supply one.

There's nowt wrong with a well-maintained mechanical pump on a Spitfire. Just leave it, it'll be OK.

Fuel flooding is usually due to dirt or wear in the needle valve or something interfering with the rise of the float.

I don't know of any fuel pump designed to feed carbs that can overcome a needle valve in good condition.

Is this a DCOE type? If so, they also need to be anti-vibration mounted to avoid flooding. This is achieved with rubber gaskets - are they present and not over tightened? You may also need steady rods.

Ebay should be a help here - or any of the tuning parts suppliers. But the original pump should be ok. Same for the pressure regulator if it's really needed.
