Gluttons for Punishment?

I was chatting to a neighbour over the garden wall last Sunday morningwhen a convoy of small 30s saloons crawled up our apology for a road 30yards or more away. What struck me even at that distance was how brighttheir paintwork looked. It must haven taken absolutely hours ofpolishing to achieve the sort of finish that hints at the need forsunglasses to even look in that direction.Some minutes later there was another group this time including an opencar with a boat tail rear end but by this time I was in my back gardenfurther away from the road and without a view of the front of that carso can't even speculate as to what it could be.So why did a group of dedicated car nuts who obviously lavish endlessattention on their old cars choose to drive up the worst road inKeighley? A steep hill (1in 5 marked on the map), tight bends and adecidedly rough surface (damaged and uneven stone setts). Some whoventure onto this road in modern cars proceed at little more thanwalking pace and exceeding the 30 mph speed limit is almost animpossibility.
