Triumph cars & motorcycles: different companies ?

Were the Triumph motorcycles and cars built by the same company (Triumph Motors that is, before British Leyland took over) ?

Thanks.

I believe the motorcycle/car split occurred at the time the car part of Triumph was incorporated into Standard. (Whenever that was, mid 1950s perhaps?)

That should give you some idea of Triumph's history.

I've wondered that myself - being a Triumph owner myself. As far as I have been able to make out, they were never part of the same company..... but hopefully someone will be along shortly who know for sure!!

I think the split occurred about the time odf the first war

They were split into seperate companies in 1936, before that they were one and the same. Cheers, Bill.
